The Chinese Canadian Museum in Vancouver is getting about $5 million in new federal funding ahead of its opening on July 1. The Wing Sang building is one of the oldest remaining buildings in Vancouver's Chinatown, with parts of it dating back to 1889. The museum's opening date coincides with the centennial of the passing of the act, which effectively halted all immigration from China. One of Yip Sang's grandsons spoke to Caroline Chan about his family and the historic building.
